Albert Camus - A Morte Feliz

Written when the author was in his early twenties, but only revealed after his death in 1971, the text of *A Happy Death* is, to a certain extent, the basis from which Albert Camus's major work, *The Stranger*, was built.

This is the story of Patrice Mersault, a Franco-Algerian worker, whose steps we follow to the house of his victim and from there, in flight, into the self-imposed exile. The sea, the sun, women, the search for happiness, and the acceptance of death constitute the guiding threads in this text, which is a study of the struggle of the individual against the shackles of their existence, but also an astonishing window into the imagination of a young author who would prove to be one of the greatest in 20th-century world literature.
