Albert Camus - Conferências e Discursos
17.75€
This volume brings together the thirty-four publicly delivered texts by Albert Camus of which there is record.
With the exception of his 1937 reflection on "the new Mediterranean culture," all of these addresses were delivered after the war, the result of increasing invitations as the writer's notoriety grew and so too the desire to hear his perspective on the global changes underway. Convinced of the need to "transform hatred into a desire for justice," Camus uses his speeches to make an appeal to combat the world’s suffering through a fraternal union among peoples—each individual, including the writer, bearing their share of responsibility. As he emphasized: "I prefer committed people to committed literature. Courage in life and talent in works—it's not such a bad deal." This powerful collection of his public words is now, for the first time, published in Portugal.
