Duarte Belo - Alberto Carneiro: Natureza Dentro

This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition "Alberto Carneiro – Árvores e Rios", curated by António Gonçalves, held at the Ala da Frente Gallery in Vila Nova de Famalicão from June 10 to September 23, 2017.

This work is about the project, about drawing. It is about the earth, about art, about "cities." It is about nature, about the transparency of the opacity of what we do not see, about the density of a fascinating world.
[…] I personally met Alberto Carneiro in October 1987, as his student in the Drawing class during the second year of the Architecture course at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto. Thirty years have passed since that time. In this untouched nature, an imaginary city, we meet again. In me remains the fascination with the connection between teaching and creation, the dialogues of observation, the conversations we had after the course ended, and the occasional contact over the past three decades. Friendship, deep admiration, and gratitude. The draft of this book was presented to Alberto Carneiro, and he received it warmly. At the time of this publication, we can no longer count on his presence. His work and vision remain.
