Based on a critical edition of Franz Kafka's work, which follows the original manuscripts and, where this was not possible, the editions corresponding to the author's last wishes, *All the Stories* compiles, in full and in chronological order, all his narratives (some short and fragmentary, others long and finished) that can be classified as "short stories." These include the short novella "The Judgment" and the longer texts "The Metamorphosis," "In the Penal Colony," and "Josephine the Singer" or "The Rat Folk," bringing together both texts published during his lifetime and those revealed posthumously, some of which were previously unpublished in Portugal. Translated by Álvaro Gonçalves directly from the German, this volume is an indispensable work for understanding an author who was, without a doubt, one of the most significant figures in 20th-century literature.
