Miguel Soares de Albergaria - Rufina
12.00€
Maria Rufina set sail for the Azores in 1880 to live with two aunts, after being orphaned and committed to the asylum for the insane in Recife-Olinda. In Ponta Delgada, she married and had a son. But five years later, amid Portugal’s bankruptcy, her husband went bankrupt and took his own life.
Two options remained to Rufina. In choosing between them, she chose the person she would become, opened a future for her son, and laid the foundations for the very questions he would later ask her, seeking guidance during the political turmoil that gripped the country at the dawn of the 20th century.
A story inspired by real people and true events.
