Recorded at Valentim de Carvalho Studios and produced by José Mário Branco, the album features freer and more sophisticated arrangements, moving away from traditional Portuguese song structures. The lyrics, rich in symbolism and political undertones, call for solidarity and resistance at a time when the country was still under dictatorship. This album established Zeca Afonso as a key figure in protest music and foreshadowed the path leading to the Carnation Revolution.
