Belly - King

Belly were a key band in the 90s alt-rock boom, led by Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses and The Breeders).

Their debut album, Star (1993), made them stars alongside acts like The Cranberries, Mazzy Star and Juliana Hatfield. For their second LP, King (1995), they pursued a bolder, more powerful sound. While it didn’t match the commercial success of Star, King was a defining moment for the band. They toured extensively after its release, playing Glastonbury with Weezer, Pulp and The Cure, and supporting R.E.M. across Europe. Back in the US, they toured with Catherine Wheel and Jewel. Today, King stands as an underrated gem of its time, full of standout moments that highlight Belly carving their own space in a crowded alt-rock scene.
