Christine Fowler – Classical And Untitled Pieces

Classical and Untitled Pieces is the debut vinyl album by Christine Fowler, a Brighton-born artist currently based in Porto.

Recorded between 2007 and 2009, this first volume of an ongoing project combines untitled field recordings with reinterpretations of works by Franz Liszt, Richard Wagner, and George Enescu. Fowler's approach is to juxtapose found or environmental sounds with classical repertoire, aiming, in her own words, to “make Liszt play piano as Morton Feldman would” or “make the Atlantic Ocean sound like a contemporary music ensemble.” The album was recorded live at LuxFrágil, with cover artwork by Joana da Conceição and mastering by Miguel Carvalhais. The result is a singular sonic object where tradition and experimentation meet with subtlety and intuition.
