Durand Jones – Wait Til I Get Over

The album is a tribute to his hometown, Hillaryville, Louisiana, a community founded by freed slaves after the American Civil War. With 12 tracks, the record blends soul, gospel, blues, and modern elements, exploring themes such as identity, faith, love, and resilience. A standout track is “That Feeling,” where Jones addresses his experience with queer love for the first time. The production was handled by Durand Jones, Ben Lumsdaine, and Drake Ritter, with recordings at Russian Recording in Bloomington, Indiana.
