John Prine – Now Playing

An excellent introduction to John Prine’s musical world, this compilation brings together ten songs spanning American folk and country, showcasing the singer-songwriter’s unique talent for telling everyday stories with intelligence, humour and sensitivity.

With deceptively simple yet deeply expressive songwriting, Prine explores themes of love, life, loss and the contradictions of society. Highlights include “Angel from Montgomery”, “Paradise”, “Illegal Smile” and “Please Don’t Bury Me”, all fine examples of his ability to combine irony, emotion and sharp social observation. This special edition is pressed on transparent cobalt blue vinyl, making it an appealing collector’s item as well.
