Luiz Bonfá - Introspection

Luiz Bonfá (1922–2001) is one of Brazil's most influential guitarists and composers. A major figure in the bossa nova movement, he helped introduce Brazilian music to the world in the late 1950s and 1960s. Bonfá achieved international fame for his work on Black Orpheus, winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Trained in classical guitar, he developed a highly personal style, combining technical precision with profound lyricism, Brazilian rhythms, jazz harmonies, and a classical sensibility.

Originally released in 1972, Introspection is considered one of Bonfá's most complete recordings. Recorded almost entirely solo, the album reveals a rare intimacy and great precision, with the virtuosity of the Brazilian giant shining through in every note, blending classical technique with Brazilian rhythm and profound expressiveness. Long unavailable on vinyl, this reissue marks the first official release in this format in decades.
