Medeiros / Lucas – Mar Aberto

Released in 2015 on lovers & lollypops / Musicbox‑CTL, Mar Aberto is the debut album by MEDEIROS/LUCAS, a collaborative project between Azorean singer Carlos Medeiros and musician‑producer Pedro Lucas.

The record draws on insular poetry to shape a sonic voyage that shifts between a dream‑like Mediterranean and the maritime imagination of the Azores, combining electric guitars, synthesizers, percussion and voices that evoke the sea as metaphor for movement, escape and encounter. The production demonstrates a deliberate and expansive approach — recorded in 2014 at Golden Pony studio in Lisbon — where tradition meets electronics in a natural way, yet retains a strong sense of ancestry and archipelagic identity. Mar Aberto guides the listener through landscapes of nostalgia, crossing and discovery, establishing from the very start the project’s uniqueness and its place in Portuguese independent music.
