Tren Go! Sound System - Gentrified Flat Music

When real estate speculation rubs its dirty paws on amplifiers, throwing straight plaster over guitars and pedals, flattening the cultural life of cities to make way for sushi restaurants, croissant shops, and grocery stores selling potatoes at oyster prices, musicians find themselves at a crossroads between giving up and reinventing themselves.

Fortunately, Tren Go! Sound System chose the latter, and "Gentrified Flat Music" is the fruit of that resilience. Perhaps there was no better way to celebrate the project's 20th anniversary than tearing the guitar apart into a sampler, swapping picks for buttons, distorting silence with their usual psychedelic and sonic urgency.
