This book, which covers the historical context between the 1960s and the mid-1980s, with particular emphasis on the liberating period that followed April 25, 1974, gives visibility to the forgotten world of domestic workers in Portugal, which the author knew from the inside.

Through the intersection of documentary analysis with oral testimonies and personal records of protagonists, their daily work, the formative and educational processes they experienced, and, above all, the struggles they carried out to achieve social and labor rights are revisited, culminating in the organization of the Domestic Service Union, the Free Union of Domestic Workers, and the Domestic Services Workers' Cooperative – Cooperserdo.
