Cátia Oliveira e Catarina Montenegro - Afurada e a Cor das Memórias

Afurada and the Color of Memories tells us the story hidden in the old photo album of the grandfather, who used to be a fisherman. A mysterious narrative that goes beyond traditional books about fishing, art, color or religion. This work explores family relationships, the cultural heritage of a community, the importance of valuing our heritage and the values of citizenship and diversity.
The mystery of this book lies in the story behind the photographs of the great procession of boats on the Douro River. This parade featured a set of nine sculptures made for the inauguration of the Igreja Matriz de São Pedro da Afurada.
A unique and special moment for the community, but one that caused quite a stir. Everyone wondered: “How is it that in the midst of such beauty and wealth, some saints appeared with so little color that they almost seemed painted with chalk?”
