O Manipulador - Doppler

Doppler is the fourth album by O Manipulador, the project of Manuel Molarinho, released by Saliva Diva in January 2020.

Consisting of nine tracks, the record emerges from a unique approach to the electric bass, which here takes on a central role as a melodic, rhythmic and textural instrument. Using loop stations, pedals and voice, O Manipulador builds immersive soundscapes that oscillate between emotional depth and atmospheric restraint. The compositions, developed over several years, show a particular care in how sound evolves, exploring the effects of time and distance on perception. There is latent tension in many of the tracks, contrasted by moments of clarity and introspection. Doppler marks a point of maturity in the artist’s journey, with a structure less focused on experimentation and more on the expressive potential of the song form. Recorded in Porto with a production that emphasizes detail and space, the album invites careful listening, where each element carries weight and meaning. It is an intimate, dense and honest work, one that invites reflection and lingers long after it ends.
