Snail Mail - Ricochet (indies)

Snail Mail — the project of Lindsey Jordan — presents Ricochet, her third album and most expansive statement so far. Moving beyond the immediacy of young love explored on earlier releases, Ricochet turns its focus to time, mortality, and the unease of watching cherished things slip away. Across eleven songs, Jordan balances anxiety and acceptance, capturing the quiet dread of knowing that life keeps moving, regardless of what’s happening inside your own orbit.

Written during a period of personal change, including a move from New York City to North Carolina, the album pairs her incisive songwriting with broader melodic ambition, weaving luminous arrangements, subtle strings, and hypnotic textures into her established guitar-led sound. Sonically, Ricochet nods to the brighter edge of ’90s alternative and shoegaze while remaining rooted in Jordan’s unmistakable voice. Recorded with Aron Kobayashi Ritch, the album reflects a more deliberate creative process, giving space to themes of fading friendships, lost simplicity, and the fragile nature of joy. The artwork echoes these ideas, replacing Jordan’s image with a solitary spiral shell, suspended between inward collapse and outward infinity.
